Anytime I have a certain faith issue on my mind, it seems to be confirmed by another blog (usually my sister's), a devotional or a sermon. Wouldn't you know that today's sermon was exactly about what I blogged about this morning? So, if you haven't read that one yet, stop reading this one and start there.
Today, Dr. Pace started a new sermon series on "Comfort and Joy." Here are a few of his thoughts that I thought really dove-tailed my own and took it a step further.
Christmas has nothing to do with what I have done and really has to do with what God has done. It's about God bringing us home. You don't have to try to be and do enough. God accepts us no matter. We can do nothing to earn or deserve his love. It's free for the taking. God wants us only to accept his grace and to allow him to carry us home just as the shepherd brings home the lost sheep.
So, in this time of busy-ness, God, give us the weakness to relax in your arms finding the true meaning of Christmas.
"He shall feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart." Isaiah 40:11

And as I was reading your "week in numbers" blog, I was smiling about how different God made my big sister and me. Try as I might, I don't think I could EVER EVER EVER have as much energy to do what she does. Different gifts for all of us, right? :)
