First Haircut

On Saturday we attempted to get the boys' haircut, but the wait was about 30 minutes and we had dinner to get toat a friend's house. We then thought about doing it on Sunday, but their naps went too long. So, today was the day, come rain or shine. I wanted Stephen there with me because this was to be Kendrick's first haircut and I might need help wrestling the two. I was correct.

First off, we got to Sports Clips and the wait was about 15 minutes. Fine, we waited. Unfortunately, Stephen's favorite girl, Betty, and the one that normally cut Cavett's hair was still busy and we were offered another girl. I think this might have been her first week. With Cavett's hair, she took forever and in the mean time nicked the middle of the back bad enough that Betty had to come over and "smooth" it out.

In the mean time, Kendrick was a handful. He didn't want to be held, and he was a bit fussy. Finally, his turn came. He sat on Dad's lap and the cape was put around his neck. Originally we were going to go for a trim of the mullet in the back and then over the ears. But, this girl got ahold of the #4 and went at it ALL OVER!!! My poor baby doesn't look like a baby anymore. (sniff, sniff) He was ok with it until the small trimmer came out for his neck and over the ears. By that point he was done with the manipulating of his head and neck. I tried poking a few raisins in his mouth here and there, but nothing helped. He is still adorable, but the cute "baby-ness" is gone.

An hour and a half after we walked into the joint, we were walking out with 2 crying kids. What a scene we made. (Cavett didn't earn a lollipop.) It was quite a moment and I'll never take the boys at 4:45 in the afternoon again. I think I'd rather wrestle them both on my own when the place is empty.

And, yes, Kendrick cried all the way home and once we got inside. Let's hope that maybe it was just that he was hungry, and not traumatized. Or maybe it's that a molar is trying to pop through?

I am feeling very lucky that I have Trumon's mom to cut Walker's hair. We took him on Friday after one of our new neighbors asked when "her" birthday was, refering to Walker. I think it was time. Anyway, I'm working on the "tagged" thing - I asked Trumon if he could think of some of my quirks and he just laughed. Apparently I have quite a few!

Austin was a month from turning two before he had enough hair for a haircut. It was a sad day for me because, like Kendrick, he left looking so much older than when he walked in. He has wavy/curly hair and he had the cutest curls in the back of his head. We have never seen them since.
