The Game Room

In our game room there are 2 long dormer windows separated by a 4' wall. They tend to be fairly functionless and take up space....until today. Each boy was able to play with their cars and racetrack without bothering the other. They also had great fun with the springy tunnel and the tent.

We are off to Grandmama and Grandaddy's tonight and Dallas for the weekend. Most likely, no access to internet. See you Sunday night.

MILK!!!

A while back Kendrick did the sign for "all done." He did it just a few times and then has kind of quit. I've really been trying to get him to use "milk" now that he is only taking it from a sippy cup at meals and then whenever he wants some. Finally, yesterday he did it! Yeah!!! I can see the light at the end of the speechless tunnel. He is also doing "bye-bye" at the appropriate times!

China

It worries me the way China wants to appear perfectly perfect to the world in these Olympic games. It has come out that part of the fireworks of the opening ceremony were pre-recorded/special effects. And, just out today the little girl that "sang" some song at the ceremony was lip-syncing. The change was made at the last minute and the original little girl who did the actual singing was not deemed "pretty." The sad part is that the first girl says that she felt honored just to have a role in the ceremony at all. Is this how the communists brainwash you? How truly sad for both girls and this communist country. I would like to think that the U.S. wouldn't do such a thing, but I'm sure it happens on an everyday lower level.

I'm not that political or well-versed in world history or other such matters. I rarely get to watch the news, and all I get is what happens to be on the Yahoo news board or what snipits I hear between shouts of "Mom, Kendrick is bothering me!" But, this show of power from China bothers me. I guess they want all the world to see that communism "works." To that I say, no thank you. There also seems to be some issue with Russia as well.

Just a few thoughts to encourage you to pray for our nation, leaders and world.

In a Slump

I have been in a blogging slump lately. I have so many projects that I have been busy on lately: two quilts, a surprise project for someone special, not to mention trying to keep my household up and running in between week and weekends away. So, this post is just to let you know we are doing fine. We are headed up to Dallas mid-week to see a few practices that are for sell. No, we aren't definitely moving. But, we are keeping all our options open and are listening for His still, small voice.

Happy Birthday Isabela

Today we celebrate a remarkable little girl-- Isabela Falcone. It is her 4th birthday and with my new found realization of how serious her situation is, I praise God for each day that she is here. She has blessed and touched the hearts of so many people already in these few years. I am so glad that she and Cavett are friends and we love her parents too.

Two years ago I began working on this quilt. It was just before I was pregnant with Kendrick and I really thought I wanted a girl. I loved this quilt--the design, the colors, and it wasn't an easy one to put together. After about 5 months I had the whole thing pieced together, saftey pinned to the back, and ready to quilt when I learned I was having a boy. I put the quilt aside and didn't touch it again until about 2 months ago. As it sat there, I decided that I may never have a little girl and that someone special deserved this quilt. I knew it had to be Isabela.

Isabela, may you have many, many more years of birthdays to celebrate. You are a precious, beautiful child of God with a sweet and loving spirit. We are so blessed to have you as a friend.

Little League

Last night we got a glimpse of what could be our future. The 12 Year Old Lamar American Little League played last night on ESPN2 for the Southwest regional championship in Waco. They played a team from Lake Charles, LA. Unfortunately, Lake Charles won in an extra innings game 7-6 and will head to Williamsport, PA for the Little League World Series.

Lamar is our school district and many of these kids are our neighbors or they are the older team to our neighbors younger kids. It was amazing how professional they looked! It was like a real MLB game with little people. These kids were throwing balls at 70 mph! Of course the stands were full of parents rooting their kids on.

This could be my future. Cavett starts soccer in the fall. I'm glad I am growing to "like" sports.

BTW, there is a reason why I haven't posted or commented much this week. More on that tomorrow.
