Just Plain Busy
My blogging has really fallen off and I am sorry. I haven't even read most of my friends' blogs. I am having a hard time getting to a computer since I dont have good access to my laptop anymore. Really, I am only keeping up with it now because it is our family jounal and will be made into a Blurb scrapbook each year. But, the main reason I haven't been able to keep up is this pool. We are doing so much on our own, which means that Stephen is spending a lot of time outside working. And, it has been raining, so it is a nasty mud pit out there, so I am inside with the kids. Still no house cleaner, so I am busy trying to keep up with that as well. The only reason I blog now is that the kids are in school, my shower is taken and bible study is done. On to the fun stuff...

Now really, today was so busy that I failed to notice that they had re-scheduled Cavett's soccer game. I checked the calendar before Cavett and I headed out. Stephen was working on the built-up flower bed and Kendrick was down for a nap. We got there and looked around and didn't see his team. I called Stephen to double check and I had missed an email that moved the game up by 3 hours. We missed it and I felt like a horrible mother! It was the first thing I had missed on accident. Cavett was only slightly disappointed. After the initial saddness, he said, "can I go play on the playground instead?" How could I deny him? It ended fine and he was on top of the world.

And so it goes....
It seems I can't catch up these days. Life is full. So, this one will not be poetic or thoughful. It's purely to see what we have been up to and an entry in our family journal.

Last week as we hung out with the Falcones and worked at VBS, we also had a special treat Wednesday night of hanging with our Sugar Land groupies.
The boys were invited to the Smith kid's birthday party at the neighborhood pool. They had a blast and wore themselves out. Kendrick tried out the diving board for the first time and truly enjoyed it.

Thursday was "Core" night out at a local Italian joint. Good food, good friends, good wine and a good babysitter. What more can you ask for. Thanks, Crystal!

Friday I left the kids with Brenda for an hour or so until Stephen got off work and I zoomed back to Da
llas for my future-sister-in-laws bachelorette weekend. More fun times. There were 5 of us the first night and then 2 more joined us on Saturday.

The boys came home today and worked on the play set all afternoon and evening. They are nearly finished. Maybe 3 more hours and it will be complete! I'm so proud of Stephen!

I'm looking forward to a week at home, but tomorrow we will take a trip to Grand Saline to pick some blueberries and drop Cavett off with Grandmama and Grandaddy for some special alone time.

A New Mall
Memorial City Mall--It's not new to Houston, but it is new to me. We had never been there. I went to pick up my fabulous birthday dress and the kids got to run around. Cavett was quite the helper, wanting to push Kendrick all the way from our car to the first store inside the mall.
After shopping we headed to the indoor soft playground. As a Mom, I was very impressed with this playground. It was completely enclosed. You weren't allowed to bring in your stroller or food or drink and there was a Sheriff standing watch at the entrance/exit gate. I felt at easy to let Cavett run about with out having an eye on him at all times. If fact, unless you were following him, it would have been impossible. He was so busy, I barely could snap a shot.
On the other hand, this was Kendrick's first experience with one of these and he loved it! He slid, crawled, wobbled, and climbed. He was so busy that he didn't even crack a smile--ever! I was sweating trying to keep up with him. My thighs were burning trying to squat low enough to not hit my head in all of the tight places. (We did Plyometrics this morning.) Great fun and we will head back to this one.

Park Play
We braved the heat today as we headed out to the "yellow" park, as Cavett calls it. It is the biggest one with the closest walking distance and the most shade. I let Kendrick venture around by himself a bit, with me being inches away. He LOVED the tunnel and even went up the slide backwards. How do they learn that so early?
Cavett, on the other hand, found the balance beam. He's been practicing all year at school. But this is the first step he's taken without holding on to something. (Sorry about the yard crew in the background.)
Afterwards we headed back home for the pool and lunch. I guess I sufficiently wore them out, because both have been asleep for 2 1/2 hours now!
