Communal Living

For the second time in less than a year, we have found ourselves living with our dear friends, the Falcones. Last summer I committed to teach Vacation Bible School at St. Luke's in Houston thinking that we would still be living here. Well, God had other plans on that front, but I decided to stick with my commitment and come back down to teach for the week. We had nothing better to do in Allen anyway.

So, Sunday morning we packed our bags and the kids and I drove down to stay with Brenda, Sammy, Isabela and Crystal for the week. I even coerced Brenda to teach with me. We have had a good time so far and I love that Cavett is sharing this time with Isabela.

There has been lots of yummy Mexican food eating, pretend doctor playing, swimming, and Mommy time. Hopefully, we will get to add Daddys to that mix on Thursday night. Stephen is done working in Allen tonight and will join us here to work in Sugar Land the remainder of this week.

We are heading down to Sugar Land as well tonight for the Smith's kids birthday party and to visit old neighbors.

Wonderful friends warm your heart, help you keep things in perspective, solve your problems, and are like family. Great neighbors who become your good friends are hard to come by, but when you luck out as we have in the past, are just as irreplaceable. I know we will find more friends in our area to add to the handful we have now. But, this visit has been good for my heart and soul as I hope I have reciprocated to others.

TGIF

We made it through a week of Vacation Bible School! It was a whole lot of fun and I really enjoyed it, just a little exhausted and miss my work-outs. I know Cavett had a good time as he has been singing and dancing all week. He loves the "Surfing" Beach Boy style songs. Today they had an assembly with all 470 kids together, singing and dancing. Cavett found me in the crowd and loved looking back to see if I was watching him sing. Absolutely precious. He also learned the "Be"-Attitudes for the week: Be Obedient, Kind, Forgiving, Bold and Believe. His favorite are obedient and kind (as they should be for a 3 year old.)

As for teachers, it's so nice to have such good people taking care of my kids as well. I am so thankful for the time and care they have given them. Both Cavett and Kendrick's teachers talked about how strong and smart they are.

After teaching for a week I am reminded that not all children are like mine. There are some that may have more energy, some that need 24/7 attention, and some that need more help. I think God gave me this week and several children in my class with needs to remind me to be thankful for my own children. We are so blessed to have such strong, independent, smart, healthy, stable kids. I love you, Cavett and Kendrick.

Vacation Bible School

This week is Vacation Bible School. I am teaching a 2nd grade class. This involves getting the 3 of us out the door and on the road by 8:05 each morning this week, to arrive at church around 8:40 to get both kids to their rooms and me ready to teach until 12. When we arrive home it is a mad dash to get all of us fed. By the time that is over and we have had the napping ritual taken care of, I am beat! I don't know how full-time working Moms do it. Maybe I am just out of practice. I look at everything that needs doing around the house and I have no motivation. My house is a wreck. As a result, nothing has been posted and probably nothing else will be posted until the weekend sometime. So, I hope this finds everyone well and know that we are thinking of you this week even if you don't hear from us.

On another subject, the first day's lesson went very well. Candace helped me out in a big way and gave me a great way of teaching the story of Gideon. The senior minister even came in to help out! How often does that happen in a big church as ours! Let's hope my lesson tomorrow goes just as well.
