Boys Will Be Boys

Yes, boys will be boys.  Yesterday, I was surrounded by "farting" arm noises.  Today, it was a little nicer.  After all the morning camps we were having quiet time.  Everybody was to be in their own rooms.  About 2:45, I went to check on everyone and was going to let them know it was pool time.  But, I snuck up on something much better than I hoped.  The two of them were in Kendrick's room playing so kindly with one another.  Who cares if they were blowing guys up and having a "battle,"  that's just what boys do.

The important part was the kindness I saw.

“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another."  Zechariah 7:9

"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." Colossions 3:12

"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galations 5:22-23

The last two passages I pray for almost every day for me and my kids.  It's so nice to see answered prayers.  Thank you God for a peaceful summer!

An Early Morning

Today's fun was bright and early before the alarm clocks this morning when we were awoken by the cement pourer over our back yard fence we bounded into the kitchen and saw the sun just start to peep through the slats in the fence. As we continued watching we were intrigued by the shadows on the wall and making our own. There's nothing like a sweet silhouette. Of course, the boys had other ideas like a three nosed man, rabbits and dogs.

Rough Riders Baseball

Last night was Family Fun Friday and we chose the minor league baseball game in Frisco for our outing, since Cavett will be playing baseball in the fall and Kendrick had never been to a game yet.  After a quick stop at the library, we hit up Chick-Fil-A for a cheaper meal before going to the ballpark.  Our seats were great, but it was a quite smaller stadium from what we were used to.  But, we hadn't taken into account the direction of the sun and the location of the seats.  We sweat our tails off for the first hour and a half before the sun final was blocked by the building.  Kendrick kept getting down low in between the seats to find shade.

Some drinks and blue cotton candy helped ease the heat and keep our mind off of it.  However, Kendrick was not into the cotton candy.

The game was exciting and Cavett learned a bit more about baseball.  The Rough Riders were winning up until the 8th inning when they were stomped upon by the San Antonio Missions.  But the kids held in there, waiting patiently all because they wanted to see the fireworks at the end.  And, they were worth it.  Great night and I look forward to many more like this with my boys.

Fishing Day with the Men

We headed to Grand Saline for the day just for the heck of it.  Last weekend my men really cought the fishing bug, so that is what we did all day.  Only one fish was caught early in the morning by Grandmama and Kendrick, but it was a good size bass.

The rest of the day was filled with being scared of  chasing the massive amounts of grasshoppers and Cavett climbed "Raccoon Castle" for the first time all by himself.  Looks like he's getting ready for Grandmama's laundry shoot in January when he turns 6!

Poor Kendrick

For the past couple of nights Kendrick has had a hard time going to bed.  He is either scared of something and wanted a night light or is being stubborn.  Those of you who know our sleeping routine, know that it is usually a piece of cake.  These kids are trained, but Kendrick keeps getting out of bed.  We put him back in several times last night and assuring him that everything is ok and that there is nothing to be scared of.  He was so tired though, rubbing his eyes and such.  Finally, he settled down and stayed in bed, or so we thought....

At 9 o'clock last night I rounded the corner and saw this.

Poor thing had one of his blankets stretched out on the ground perfectly and the other blanket covering him in the middle of the hallway.  We felt so bad for him.  He knew that if he came into the living room we would just put him back in bed.  Hopefully, we can get the problem figured out tonight.

On another precious note, he are my boys ready for church--matching!  Love them!

Wordful Wednesday

It seems living in a "boy" house there is much wrestling. I am learning to embrace it and love it.

Monday Matters

This evening after we said the blessing I looked up to a sweet sounding voice saying "Ah-Ah." Kendrick's hands were folded and he was trying to sing the blessing with us. Precious.

Second picture is just after dinner. My boys watching the Olympics. Men and their TV.
