Soccer Video

Here are a few highlights. The kid at the end in the yellow shirt is actually not on his team. He's an older brother of another teammate. FYI-He's kicking left footed.

Cavett's First Soccer Practice

We bought the cleats, the shin guards, the shorts, and the socks. After nap we put it all on, had a banana for energy and headed to our first soccer practice at an elementary school near by. Luckily, Dad got off in time to meet us there. There are 6 other kids on the team and Cavett was previously friends with 4 of them. It was a comfortable situation.

After the initial "Don't touch the ball with your hands and kick it in the goal," the first "game" was without balls. Each kid got a flag and tried to chase each other to rip the flags off. Then they did the same, but went for a specific color. From there, they began using the balls. The coach set up a circle with himself in the center. The kids were to try and kick the ball to hit him. The coach was great and gave some funny reactions each time he was hit.

Now, this entire time, Cavett is having a blast! He was giggling uncontrollably which is quite contagious. He stopped for an occasional water break but he never sat down and quit even when others were. He only complained once and that was to say that "my underware is sticking to me!" I'll just say we were all sweating! By this time we are realizing he really is pretty good at this. One Mom even commented, "How long have you been practicing?" Truthfully, we haven't. We've occasionally kicked the ball around the yard this summerand talked about how you don't use your hands, but that is about it.

There were a few other games and then at the end they started on one side and raced to see who could get the ball to the goal first. Cavett was either first or second either time. Mason is going to give him a run for his money! He had a great time and really enjoyed himself. He even prayed for his new soccer friends.

Another Day, Another Car

This is car number 4 in two weeks. This is a dealer car and isn't like mine at all. It's a 2008 and not diesel. I took ours back today because of the spots on the paint that needed to be fixed (see this post). They are also tinting our windows for free. Hopefully, I'll have mine back tomorrow.

The funny thing was as we were driving home from church yesterday, a neighbor saw us in our black car and looked at me like "What is going on?". I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet, but now she gets to see the silver version. It's gotten to the point that Cavett doesn't even question what car he's getting in.

BTW, I do love my Jetta TDI, just tired of the car swapping. Have I mentioned Satellite Radio is fantastic?

Sunday Happenings

This morning we woke the kids up at 7 to go to early church. I was directing the New Sound 6th grade choir group at the 8:45 service and my rehearsals start up this afternoon. So, to have more time for lunch and the afternoon, we decided to not do the 11:00 service as well.

On the way there, we were listening to the Symphony channel on our new Sirius radio. Fun for us that Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 was on. For those of you familiar with the Little Einsteins, this is the "Birthday Machine Song." Cavett loves to listen to it and Kendrick got in to it as well by "conducting." After they dropped me off at church early, the boys proceeded to Whataburger for breakfast.

Cavett sat with Dad in church with nothing to keep him entertained. The children's sermon came up very quickly and seeing as how I was up in the alter area, I had a perfect view. He left Dad's pew in the very back and walked all the way down the aisle by himself. He climbed the stairs and sat as close as he could to the woman doing the lesson. After it was over, he informed her that he had a "Hot Wheels jumper!" She acknowledged him, but the funny part was watching him go back down the aisle. He hopped like a bunny the entire way back. I always get comments about him. His Sunday School Teacher also said that he was "very involved" in their discussion today. Sometimes I just don't know what to do--laugh, be embarrassed, or think maybe he just walks to the beat of a different drummer compared to other kids. He is precious and he isn't really being a trouble maker, but he definitely makes his presence known.

He did have his first communion this morning. He walked down with Dad and the servers bent over for him. He dipped the wafer in the juice. Dad explained to him that it was a meal with Jesus. Afterwards, they prayed. It was so cool to watch how Stephen was enveloping him. One of Candace's friends has a name for it--a prayer tunnel. I definitely had the best seat in the house to watch this awesome experience.

A New Mall

Memorial City Mall--It's not new to Houston, but it is new to me. We had never been there. I went to pick up my fabulous birthday dress and the kids got to run around. Cavett was quite the helper, wanting to push Kendrick all the way from our car to the first store inside the mall.

After shopping we headed to the indoor soft playground. As a Mom, I was very impressed with this playground. It was completely enclosed. You weren't allowed to bring in your stroller or food or drink and there was a Sheriff standing watch at the entrance/exit gate. I felt at easy to let Cavett run about with out having an eye on him at all times. If fact, unless you were following him, it would have been impossible. He was so busy, I barely could snap a shot. On the other hand, this was Kendrick's first experience with one of these and he loved it! He slid, crawled, wobbled, and climbed. He was so busy that he didn't even crack a smile--ever! I was sweating trying to keep up with him. My thighs were burning trying to squat low enough to not hit my head in all of the tight places. (We did Plyometrics this morning.) Great fun and we will head back to this one.

Another New Car

This is really crazy ridiculous! As a 2009 new model car, we were a bit weary of buying. I guess our fears came true. However, the dealership decided that they were going to keep our car and we could have a new one. Fine with us. We ended up getting the same car, but black with black interior and a sun roof. They also threw in tinted windows, some trunk gear and an Ipod adapter.

As we were finalizing the deal we noticed what looked like paint chips. Turned out the car had been pooped on by birds at the boat dock. The car had sitckers/tape on it, but because of the hot sun it melted through? Who knew bird poop could do that? So, I'm taking it BACK in on Monday to have it redetailed and tinted. Another loaner car. Can't wait.

Hopefully, this one will stick with us. Props to Archer Volkswagon for doing the right thing and taking care of their customers.
